Taken just over the hill from the house, from one of my regular spots to watch the light. I saw this in BW and in color, and edited to taste.

Thanks Jim. It’s been interesting pushing my comfort level. For a long time I was strictly processing in color, but now I have the camera screen and viewfinder set for BW so I shoot as such, and then decide how to process when I get home.

The 2nd is a crop of the first - one is a long pano with maybe 8 frames stitched. The 2nd is maybe 4 frames worth of image. I think the long pano works better in color and the crop works better in BW.

I have a series from this spot now, so I need to find some time and $ and print some.

That is beautiful, I would love for that to be just over the hill from my house, if only I had a hill near my house.

It's interesting that I find #1 to seem simpler even though #2 is a crop of #1. My eye just doesn't know where to focus on #2. Maybe "simpler" is the wrong word. Perhaps with it being a pano, I just kind of mentally sit back & take it all in rather than greedily trying to take in all the detail of #2.

Yes, the downsizing and presentation on the web certainly changes what one sees in the image. I am always surprised going from working in Lr or Ps to then looking at the images elsewhere.

I think Monika's observation matches my own. I get much more involved viewing the pano. Beautiful image.
