Anyone else find that macOS Sonoma no longer mounts the memory cards on Sony cameras when connected via USB-C cable and set to USB Storage mode ?

I had this, fixed it by doing a restart. I think that installs the fix.

It sounds as possibly the problem I experienced yesterday when only the "Phone" folder appeared on the desktop. I restarted the laptop (with the camera connected) and this fixed the problem. I can only hope it won't return.

Yes. For me too with A1+ MBP M1 Max macOS Sonoma.
I only see the Sony PMHOME drive. Seems to be a bug or maybe permission issue? Restart (camera or computer) doesn't fix the issue on my M1 MBP.

If anyone wants to count anecdotes, put me in the "M1 laptop restart fixed the problem." Before that, only the PMHONE showed up like what LBJ2 reported.

Camera restarts did not fix anything. My camera was not connected while I restarted my laptop.

It appears to be working fine now.

So to be clear this is only happening with folks who connect their camera to the computer? Because I never do that except for firmware updates. I've been using Sonoma since the early betas and mounting the Sony card reader with cards from my A1 has never been a problem at all, but I haven't tried connecting my camera yet.

I had this happen connecting directly to A7RIV via USB-C on a Mac mini M1 running Sonoma. Powering the camera on/off resolved.

My great fear in life is being in a position where I have to rely on Sony to fix broken software.

Edit: Seems my problem is with CFExpress-A cards not showing up on M1 MBP macOS Sonoma desktop via USBC connection from the A1 camera. However, If I use SD cards in the A1, then both cards appear on the M1 MBP/macOS Sonoma desktop from the Sony A1 via USBC as normal.

*All my USBC SD/CFE-A readers with either card type, work as normal on the MBP macOS Sonoma desktop.

To add to my response above: My cards in A1 are both CFExpress-A
Just in case the problem is card-specific.

"Just in case the problem is card-specific."

Bingo! Thank you. Looks like my problem is with the AngleBird AV PRO CFE-A 1TB cards and macOS Sonoma via USBC/TB3/4 connection. Both my Prograde and Sony CFE-A cards are connecting correctly via USBC from the camera to the Desktop.

Going to reach out to AngleBird for assistance.

EDIT: Never mind 🤪 now after the above fiddling with different CFE-A cards everything is working to include the AngleBird AV PRO CFE-A card 🤷🏽‍♂️

Interesting - I have Lexar 160GB CFEa and ProGrade 160GB CFEa which are not working but the Sony 80GB CFEa appears to work fine.

Restarting M2 laptop did not help.

Ok well that's weird.

After pulling the two 160GB cards and testing the 80GB card I put the two 160GB cards back and they work now. No doubt more on this later

Yes. It seems to be inconsistent. I had similar results to you after puling cards. But even after I had all CFE-A cards working, the problem recurred after a few more tries, but then started to work again. Simple solution for me was to stop fiddling after I got both CFE-A to load again or use my normal USBC CFE-A card reader.

Either way, I'll be submitting a bug report to apple as there is something going on.

I just tried and nothing works for me, neither SD or CFA. Neither through my card reader, connecting the camera or even plugging the sd card straight into the card reader in the computer. So much for "just works"...

Same problem here on M1 Mac. When I connect the camera it shows as PMHOME, it used to show as UNTITLED volume.

With the camera connected and turned on, I RESTARTed my Mac.

After RESTART the camera shows as PMHONE and I now have an additional device showing as UNTITLED and can view my images from the camera.

RESTART of Macbook with the Camera CONNECTED and turned ON fixed the issue.

Just an update - it is still intermittent but usually seems to show all the memory cards when the Camera is powered off and on again while still connected.

Sonoma 14.1 was released today. I'll be curious if this fixes the issue for everyone. I'm still running Ventura and am going to wait it out until it seems like all is good with Sonoma.

Checking 14.1 now. It states that it contains a fix for encrypted external drives not connecting. Not sure if that would be related to this issue.

Upgraded to 14.1
USB-C shows up as Untitled when using the Sony Card Reader. CaptureOne showed the Images in Import panel.

Connecting the camera direct to the Mac shows two volumes PMHOME which shows INFO and LICENSE folders and another volume called Untitled which contains the images. CaptureOne showed the Images in Import panel.

The problem appears to be resolved for me.

Been following this issue over at MacRumors Sonoma forum. Sonoma has a problem recognizing external encrypted drives. This also occurred with some non-encrypted external drives. Apple put out a 14.RC beta about 2 weeks ago to developers for feedback. Apple has now released a 14.1 update and most are saying their external drives are now recognized by Sonoma. So install this update and hopefully your issues will go away as they did for @LiveShots
