Wes Anderson's latest. It has his typical soft contrast orange/cyan colour grading. And all his other movies were filmed on film. But I have not been able to find any deets on this one - just released on Netflix.

It's not on https://shotonwhat.com/ yet so cant say for sure.

At any rate, I am seriously thinking of picking up a small digital of some flavor to ride in my Leica film bag. I don't own anything small anymore. Sort of thinking of a GX85 and those tiny PanaLeica primes.

I'm sort of over unlimited DR cameras anyways and I'm morphing into a Fuji hater (even though I still own a bunch of lenses).

This thread is about a movie right?

It is about that movie. I had an Olympus PenF digital camera for a little while (the one that looked most like the old Pen FT film cameras), and it made super jpegs and was delightful to use. The 1.8 lenses were as you like to say, Chef's kiss.
I akshully bought an adapter to use Leica M lenses on it, because I listened to the once photo blogger Ming Thein, but found the Oly lenses so much better on that camera. As native lenses usually are.

This movie is only 39 mins long, which is a nice change of pace. I seriously will not watch a movie if it is over 2 hours long anymore. I don't care enough, I'll turn it off and take my dog for a walk after about 90 mins. I got ish to do and places to be. Like here on FM.

That was me during the last Wes film. The stern style he has with direction yet somehow I am supposed to become emotionally attached to the characters? That's a big ask when I have convincing armatures making stuff that shows up on my pocket computer.

The GX85 kit is the price of a Fuji lens and ships next day. I mean, how can I not? It would probably all stuff into one of the 3 pocket deviders of my Billingham M bag.

I really disliked Asteroid City - I actually paid movie going money to see it too. First WA film that I didn't like. I just found it... boring. And kinda freshman year film school-ish with the play in the movie in the play thing. Loved the sets but that is a given.

I'll have to check out the GX85. In case I run into you and so I can feign knowledge about it.

ok, 16 mp just like a Nikon DF! If you can, get the Oly 15mm f8 pancake. Makes the entire package so small plus it was way better a performer than I expected. There are some images taken w it in the pancake thread - last few pages.

For the price of a new XT5 I could buy the Df (again) AND the GX85. Go all in on 16mp files.

My favorite was the GM1S for the tiniest. The successor GM5 had the EVF, but I never tried it.

Here are some contrasting combinations that make the form factor remarkably useless.

Oh, and thread successfully off topic now lol

I have def thought about a GM1/GM5. So smol!

The PannyLeica primes seems like little AF versions of CV Skopars. You can toss them in a pocket. NBD. I don't have the appetite to get another old Leica digi M and I am not at the M10/M10D levels of financial commitment these days. I figure if there is some Panasonic in every M than there must be a little Leica in every PannyLeica right?

The French Dispatch was more enjoyable because the pallet didn't feel like a comic book but the sets were typically over-the-top Wes.

My favorite WA film color bonanza is the short he did for PRADA with the Italian racing scene. The halation and the reds. Wow.

Thanks for posting that! Never saw it before. Love it and agree about the color. Wish he went back in that direction.

I’m pretty sure it’s super 35 but there are moments when I think it could be 16mm. Haven’t been able to find out.
The optics in the scene where he on the phone with the bar lady on the edge of the frame is wild. The distortion is a nice touch.

I just watched it. Wonderful little video. But afterward I read the comments and many think the driver dies in the wreck, which changes everything. Watch it again with that in mind.

Yeah some claim he died. but on the phone he says "I'm ok, obviously". And prior to that "I could have got killed".
The deal w the great great uncle is just fun absurdity, as is this entire mini movie. Blaming the accident on the steering wheel being attached backwards!

Any news on Sugar?
