The flowers were already gone yet the huge leaves provided a hiding place for the GBH. These photos were taken last week at Kenilworth Park and Aquatic Gardens, Washington DC. A gem that we had missed on all our previous visits to the nation's capital.

Thank you for the images and the information Morris. I did not know Lotus is that far north. It is a spectacular plant for sure (unusual), especially its seed pods. I encountered it decades ago on just one pond in the Ft Benning Reservation. I hope you will see those flowers (and/or maybe seed pods?) on your next visit to the nation's capital. You've seeded my mind for Kenilworth Park and Aquatic Gardens, DC.

Looking good in that environment! Those leaves really are stunning when they turn color too Morris, you might have to go back
