I am always careful photographing Mennonite folk as many do not approve so I always show the camera raise an eyebrow and only carry on if I get a grudging nod - this man kindly nodded.
I have Amish around me also and I always ask prior to taking a shot! Most are very acommodating and I totally respect those who are not!
Very well done John. Love them!

Excellent use of light throughout the series. I also like the way you seem to be invisible to the people you're photographing. That's an art.

I try to be invisible - all shot at waist or chest level never to the eye - mainly from behind and between people using them as a screen - small camera and lens - and then I am not sufficiently noticeable to distract them from their concentrated trying-not-to be-interested-but not missing-a-thing bidding or just having one of those perennial farmer to farmer discussions/arguments that have been going on for years.
Lovely genuine down-to-earth (literally and metaphorically)people just getting on with their lives.
