for the 2017 total eclipse.
FYI, I'm not sure for an annular eclipse like the upcoming one, but for a total eclipse like the one in 2017, you need to remove remove the filter once the eclipse reaches totality and put it back when totality ends, so it is convenient to have a filter that can be removed easily like the universal one.
My one piece of advise is to make sure not to get so caught up in photographing the eclipse that you miss the live experience. Fortunately I read that advise before my trip, so made sure to take an little time to enjoy the experience. I'm glad I did, because my images were garbage, but the experience of totality was one of the most amazing in my life.
