Android/iPad Tablet Workflows?

I'd really like to find a way to avoid having to take a laptop with me for travel, and still be able to handle some post-processing of images.

When I travel, I'll generally back images up to an external SSD drives, and internet bandwidth permitting, to my NAS back at home. I'll also do some culling and maybe editing and uploading my favorites to social media.

I currently use Lightroom. I tried with an Android tablet I have using Lightroom , and it technically works, but from what I can tell, there's no way to bring in all of the images from the camera/memory card at once, and I have to select and import one at a time.

Works fine on an iPad. The consensus seems to be import (select all) onto the iPad and then copy to a small external SSD. There is a thread somewhere on the forum with more detailed info.

I just did this for a 3 week trip with thousands of images with no problem. Didn't even try to send them to my home system and just imported from the SSD when I got back. -Jim

Thanks for the input. I'm generally an Android user, for no other reason than I like the wide array of hardware options from different vendors.

On my Android tablets, there doesn't appear to be a "Select All" function when browsing images, which means I have to select and import them one-by-one, which is....tedious....

Now, with the iPad, do you ever find yourself running out of storage? Do you remove them from the iPad when you move them to the external SSD?

I can easily add one days shooting to the iPad. After I copy the files to an
External SSD I delete them from the iPad. Seems a little clumsy when describing the process but it actually works very well.

I have Android tabs and can select all files. How are you moving them?

If I go to My Files and navigate to the USB drive, then DCIM and then the date I see all the files.
Press and hold one file (you must hold otherwise it just tries to open the file)
A selection circle opens to the left of the file name. It is checked for the one selected.
Above the list of files there is another selection circle with All underneath. Check that and all files will be selected.
Copy as needed.
