I've had the 10D mostly through the 90D, the 5D through the 5D4, the R5 and R7, and a number of Rebel level Canons and G series point and shoots. The only one of the bunch I didn't like was the original 7D which I think they pushed too hard for fast performance. Even that one wasn't GARBAGE. Currently the EF mount cameras have one of the fullest range of lenses available. The 90D has one of the most advanced cross type AF units ever made plus a great sensor based AF system in live view.

I've always had both FF and APS-C cameras. FF cameras are better matched for the range of L zoom lenses. In the early days there was more separation in image quality. But really since the 80D, perhaps even the 70D, APS-C is really only marginally different than FF if you do your job right. Especially with current post processing software.

So if the 90D is garbage in your opinion the the only advice I have is please go back to Nikon. If you are looking to fail, you will.

Open to suggestions i have 1000 to spend on a body, yes not much but it's all i got. Want something good at portraits and i can shoot landscapes and the camera feels at home doing both. I want a FF I'm not messing with crop stuff, open to your guy's ideas.

It's the best and most advanced of the XXD line and is basically two cameras in one: a late model mirrorless in LV mode and a DSLR in optical VF mode. If you're starting from scratch, it has a long learning curve. Coming from an 80D it was similar enough I was up and running in a couple weeks. I could fault it for a number of things but consistently unsharp images wasn't one of them. Nailed focus most of the time for me, but I normally used single point or small area (can't trust AI to know what you want in focus).

Well I don't seem to be the only one that thinks this or is ran into this problem there's videos on it there's even Canon said you got to have their sharpest L Glass to get the best out of the sensor blah blah blah blah. People claim the 50 mm F 1.8 STM is sharp I don't find it sharp I've seen way sharper lenses than this so I don't know what to do it just seems people swear up and down the thing takes good pictures and there's other people that swear it's a piece of junk and I've gotten rid of it so I don't know what to think I've never had a problem with a camera ever in my life until this one.

I used a 20D earlier this year. It's a good camera, so I'm going to go out on a (very short) limb and say the 90D is better, given its 7 iterations more recent. Not garbage

I really don't necessarily care about YouTube. Did the person doing the video know what they are doing? If you are having issues you should probably ask us

I still have my 50/1.8 II. Seemed fine on 24mp, hard to believe everything falls apart on 32mp. Did you try live view

When I first got the 90D, I spent weeks calibrating my lenses with the AF Microadjustment feature. For example, my EF-s 18-135 3.5-5.6 IS USM needed +7 at 18mm and +5 at 135mm to be critically sharp. My EF 70-300 4.0-5.6 IS USM was the only lens I owned which was perfect at AFMA default (0). The process was a pain but better than dealing with soft focus. AF Microadjustment is the one song and dance I don't miss after switching to the R series.

Ok been talking to people on the 90d forums. I'm going to keep it, yes i tried live view and it focuses much better in live view. The 50mm f1.8 needs to be stopped down to 5.6 to get razor sharp, but then you don't get a good out-of-focus background.

I'm getting the Tamron 45mm SP f 1.8 lens, it's a much sharper lens, and will give it a go. It's the sensor and the tightness of the pixels that make this camera need the best glass to get the most out of this sensor.

Thanks for all your input.

As the song goes" Money's too tight to mention"....Been there many times.

Might I suggest a 5DSr? I have 2 and the files are most excellent. Yes it is a tad more than you have but maybe pick one up on B&S? It is my "travel" body and my main body.
Good luck!
