p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · question on selling entire sports kit

I have a ton of positive buy and sell. Looking for your thoughts on selling my old gear as a kit or individually. I see many new people asking about gear to shoot their kids sports, or interested in starting shooting sports. I switched to Sony 2.5 years ago. I kept my Nikon kit complete in case of equipment failure or maybe lending it to a new person when we need a second shooter.

Was going to offer it complete or do you think I could just sell them individually?

All in a Think tank roller:
2 ea Nikon d500 w grips and 6 batteries probably 200k shutter each but work perfect, tons of cards for all
1 D3s. 4 batteries
1 Nikon 200-400 ver 1 Very sharp
1 Nikon 70-200 2.8 Vr
1 Sigma 15 mm fish
1 nikon 16-80

All bought new by me, all have boxes all used and maintained professionally.

was thinking 3k for the kit

thoughts?

Well...I know the want to just dump it all and sell it as a package is great, and seems easiest, but I think in the long run, you'll do better selling them individually (or at least listing them individually). Keep in mind that not everyone wants or needs the exact same kit you have, and even if you did list as a package deal, I'll bet you'll still get many PMs asking to split it up in the end.

Who knows, though... if you do list it all individually, you may still find people willing to make you a good offer for the whole kit anyway, but I just think you are limiting interest when you list it as a package only. Plus, if you've been sitting on that gear for a while already, I think you could wait a little longer to sell off each piece for what it's worth...just a thought.

Good luck!

If you wanna make money, sell it piece by piece. Otherwise stand firm on your price and sell the kit. The price is good, and anyone who bought this could sell off what they don't need, without it being your problem to do all that back and forth.

If the money isn't really needed for anything else? I'd consider selling off the D500s only. A D3s and the lenses would all hold their value whether you sell it today or in a year (the D3s only because its so old).

At that price it should sell quick . . .but you will make more money selling individually, but I get wanting it all gone at once.

If you are not tied to making a $$ return on your investment, consider a donation. I'll suggest two:

Girls who Click is an organization that supports young women photographers and has a donation program (tax deductible). Founded by nature photographer Suzi Eszterhas.
https://girlswhoclick.org/

Or, consider donating to a college Journalism program that trains photographers. Or perhaps a college student newspaper. Perhaps a local college that you would consider offering consulting time?
