Figured I should share the rest of these since this male & female couple were being so cooperative...

At this point, I knew I had a few good shots and decided to try and get a little closer to the male...

I guess I pushed my luck a little too far, but it did earn me "The parting shot"...

Excellent. All are great, but that last one in flight is something I haven't seen before. Well done.

Thanks Morris, yeah, I like that also, reminds of a hummer's little tongue.

Thanks mucho Karl! This one was fun to shoot, they gave me plenty of time and even let me get reasonably close, so I made the best of it. It's easy to miss, but there are 2 birds, a male & female, the pic's with the red patch on his cheek is the male the other pics are the female.

Thanks Greg! Trust me, so am I, of all you other people and stuff you have in your locations. That darn grass is always greener elsewhere, heh.

Thanks, yeah, that was a bonus. I pushed my luck and suspected he would take flight. I only got the one because I was braced against another tree and wasn't really in a good position for in-flight shots.

Thanks Rolo! Yeah, it was nice not shooting zoomed all the way out. The MTF charts seem to indicate the 200-600 does a little better backed off, and I was happy to be able to stop down a little and zoom back into the sweet spot.

I kept thinking "no sudden movements" and tried projecting a calm "nothing to see here folks, I'm just hanging out little fella, I don't eat your kind" kinda vibe. Don't know if it worked, or just dumb luck, but I'll take it. !
