Wow, what a species and what a great catch, Bruce. Where's Alligator Farm?
Thanks for commenting, the Alligator Farm is in ST Augustine, Florida and is a world class location to photograph nesting birds. Although it is a zoo mainly for seeing alligator species, In April - July the local birds have learned that the alligators protect them by keeping bird predators away from their nests. There are up to 800 nests surrounding a 40 Yard boardwalk through the swamp filled with alligators. Hundreds of photographers visit every spring to photograph the birds. Some of the nests are so close that you could reach out and touch the eggs or chicks. You can purchase a photographer pass good for the year allowing you early and late access to the birds. It is a must place to see if you like bird photography. Of course Florida also offers other great locations for easy bird photography so I usually stay for about 10 days visiting different locations to find special species like osprey, Reddish, egrets, Spoonbills, terns and even burrowing owls. Here is a link to the AF website. Feel free to contact me if you ever want to visit Florida and would like info on it. Bruce Benson email: [email protected] www.pbase.com/brucebenson
