Sunday was the final day of the final music festival of the summer in my east side Madison neighborhood. The day starts with a parade and it's something I always enjoy shooting. One of the first scenes I saw when I got to the closed off section of street was this really good natured guy talking to a friend. He was bathed in light and made such a striking, happy profile I couldn't resist doing a shot. After the parade ended I was heading out and this young kid I encountered was the exact opposite. His world view wasn't quite so exuberant. I thought the contrasting attitudes and ages made a nice comparison.

Both are great shots, as is the processing. Sometimes I can be both of those moods in the same afternoon.

Brent #1 is just a super composition! You got him at just the right time!
He instantly reminded me of Leon Russell...long white hair, beard and a super smile.
Now the little tyke in the last frame...well I surmise something gave him that "say what?" look..disgruntled!

Thanks brother. You are right about the resemblance. Put a cowboy hat and sunglasses on this guy and he could probably pull off the lookalike with Leon. I'm not sure what the deal was with the kid. This was at a parade and I never saw a kid before who didn't like a parade. Maybe he ate something that didn't sit too well. 😁
