I've shot the Sigma on Sony. I was impressed with the across the frame resolution with low aberrations (coma's well controlled, SA's very mildly undercorrected at wide apertures, and CA never gets distressingly bad) and good close-focus bokeh. FC's a bit wavy at wide apertures and mid to close distances, but it's barely evident in the results. The vignetting, both natural and optical, along with pincushion distortion, all feel a bit high given that it's not exactly a small and light lens, but most of the issues can be corrected. For the money, you're not going to do any better.
That said, if I were going to move to the L-mount for a 50, I'd want to at least try Panasonic's Pro 50/1.4. It's very much a beast, but it is a beautiful performer. It's got to be worth a rental, at least, if you go down this path....Show more →
Thanks! Seems like only one person on the internet uses that Lumix 50 so it's been hard to find good sample photos and reviews...I will admit I had it for like a week 2-3 years ago, but the aperture dial immediately stopped working so I had to return it. I know every product will have a lemon or three, though, so no knock on the lens!
