Green Herons generally migrate south from the Pacific Northwest in September. I've never been lucky enough to catch them in spring (northern) migration, but have had a bit of luck with the fall migration over the years. Still, they are pretty skittish and elusive most of the time. I was fortunate to catch this one in a local wetlands the other day.

These are nice poses of the wily little buggers.

I've had better luck with them this year than the past 12 years combined. Maybe they're easing up.

In any event, glad you got some keepers of them.
