I've done a search on the forum, but can't find any info on a filter system. The internet is a bit confusing as well.

Choices depend if you are shooting with R series or DSLR and type of filter system you are looking for.

With my Canon 5dsr DSLR I used ND Grads and ND filters using the Lee SW150 filter system (larger Lee filter sizes and Lee Adapter ring).

Altering going mirrorless, and before I switched entirely to RF lenses, I used the SW 150 II filter holder, Lee Adapter ring for the EF 11-24mm lens with the SW150 ND grad filters. I also used the Canon RF-EF drop-in rear adapter to use drop-in ND filters, Vari-ND filter, and polarizer.

After selling the lens, I sold my EOS EF-RF adapter, drop in filters, and the adapter ring for the 11-24mm lens. You can see a description of the Lee SW150 ND grads and Lee SW 150 II filter holder at the following posting:
https://www.kijiji.ca/v-view-details.html?adId=1669757278&siteLocale=en_CA

You can see a photo of the Lee holder and SW150 ND grad on one of the photos on the listing.

What kind of filters are you looking for? NDs, Grad NDs, Circ Pol, etc. Personally, I just use the EF to RF adapter with a drop in filter with mine.

I've seen some that use the conventional filters, but they are massive and cost upwards of $1,000 Lucroit Pro L 165mm.

With RF you just get drop in adapter. With dslr I wouldn't even bother. You can do most things in post except CPL effect, or very dark ND.

Thanks guys!

I forgot about the drop in filter adapter! I have the control ring adapter.

A new search is on!

I've not done much with it but I'm holding on to my EF superwide lenses as I move to the R system so I can use the drop in rather than the special holders and gigantic square filters. While some of the R replacements may have advantages many have offsetting disadvantages, I've not felt handicapped by doing this.

The 11-24 with the drop-in polarizer holder on an R5 or other IBIS EOS body is surreal magic - simply terrific to the point of cannot imagine anything better as a wide lens.

This filter is different. If using on an ef camera ok. If using on an RF camera, I'd go with the filter holder that is in the ef-rf converter

I like the Meike which I grabbed as a flyer without a lot of research... Same reason - Just improves the EF glass convenience and to me, the filter glass seems like decent quality. It's not as good of a build quality as the control ring Canon I also have. I do wish it had a click for the adjust wheel as hard to tell where you are on range and just feels a bit low quality.

I agree with the sentiment that ND Grads are pretty much obsolete with todays sensors. Just expose for the highlights and lift the shadows in post. As for drop-in filters I use the polarizer from Canon and a variable ND from Breaktrough. Waited almost a year foe that one but was worth it in the end. There might be other manufacturers in the market today other than breakthrough but I haven’t looked around in a while. They were planning on releasing an IR72 filter that I‘d like to give a try but it wasn’t available last year. If you go drop in I‘d give breaktrough a good look. They are well made and the filter works perfectly for me.

Look at Kolari or spencer for additional drop in for canon system.

IMO, Canon's or anyone's EF-RF drop in adapter just made any RF uber wide obsolete on delivery. I just can't see a potential reason to swap over to RF with this option on the EF-RF adapter. I'm sure some people will simply prefer the RF mount, especially if they don't like filters, but for rest of us, these adapters are a big deal.

The ultrawide lenses could be made smaller/cheaper compared to their EF counterparts. Wide end is where mirrorless should have lens-size/weight/price advantage over SLR.

An internal zooming 70-200/2.8 will be always a big barrel everywhere.

Agreed, the drop-in filter adapter and 11-24 combo has been great on my RP/R6m2 bodies. Use the Canon CP and Kolari clear/VND.
