I'm a little late to this party, but....

I own both and when I got my R5, I immediately recognized the superior picture quality of my 5DSr. This is not a detail or sharpness issue. I don't know exactly what I see or don't see, but the pictures from the 5DSr and just so darned beautiful. Shooting flowers and gardens are the acid test for me.

Peace
Bruce in Philly.

I totally agree with the above analyis! I am not detracting from the progress from my 5DSr's. It is a minor/major issue for both a photographer and a "buyer"(@senior on fixed income_= I will say that ,if I was still working., I would be shooting mirrorless! ) To me...the workflow of "Selling", Authenticating, S&H, packing...fees.....? I really see NO radical increase in IQ@detail over the dlrls v. mirrorless. Just my HO.
I am a "tool guy mentality' more power!" aka...megapixels and how much detail they store in a raw format. Granted the new camera processors contain more IQ per mpx. AT THIS TIME..I just compared a side-by-side owner dslr and prospective buyer to mirrorless and looked to see if there was any "marked increase,"in IQ raw flies. This is leaving what the lense is contributing to the equation out. Yes I have factoed in the "weight" factor...So a dslr guy I am at the max weight wise with attached lens, mainly a zoom. Here weight wise.."less is more". And I welcome that factor! But the above "hassles" outweigh the negligible marked IQ difference per mpx. and increased expense of the switch..... Just me and my 50 years of shooting film, digital.

This is just "food for thought"!
Dan

Hi Dan, hi Bruce
You are giving my GAS new food. When I come across a good offer I may become very weak. Thanks!

Double B, I am posting a thought..... ONLY on the fact that what I am shooting now both for personal, web posting , not an ad to sell images as a pro, tried that and failed miserably..but that is fine.
What clients I do have are far more the exception than the rule and I would say, money is not the always fee! I enjoy good food!

I have to concur with both Dan and Bruce on the image quality point. Having shot with the 5DSR for about 3 years now, I have not found any camera out there which shows any appreciable improvement over the outstanding quality I get from it. Case in point:

I understand the difference in focus ability, and the advantage of the lighter weight, but they do not add up to a 3x difference in current prices, at least, not to me. Then again, all of these opinions are personal and subjective. Everyone has to decide what works best for them. For me, it is this body for the long haul.
