I was on the fence about upgrading, but with the deal and an upcoming big trip, I couldn't say no.
Coming from the A7R4, I'm definitely enjoying all the benefits, but to be really nitpicky of a wishlist:
- Better low light autofocus. It's noticeably better, but I was hoping for a larger jump
- Auto subject recognition mode between all types, it's okay if it's not as good as specifically choosing one
- Auto EFCS switch above something like 1/2000s. Or at least let us have this as a button or option in the shutter type setting.
- Quieter mechanical shutter (full and EFCS) like the x-t4
- Deeper buffer with my slow SD cards: main buffer benefits are with faster cards. For really slow cards, the uncompressed RAW buffer goes from 31 to 39. I think Lossless Compressed L may help?
- Faster sensor readout speed (maybe a LQ line skipping mode for silent shutter stills?) and FPS
- Maintaining similar size/weight as A7R4, it's a bit thicker/heavier
- Remove the 3rd party battery delayed popup warning message
- Limited AF in Clear Image Zoom (specific for video usage), A7CR improved on this
Features from other brands:
- Hyper Program mode from Pentax (basically a mode that lets you easily switch between Av and Tv depending on which dial you use. Like program shift but it locks either aperture or shutter and doesn't change with the light)
- Canon's manual focus aid. With the focus map feature on Sony it seems possible, even if at a coarse resolution.
- Handheld multishot like Olympus
- Digital level data written to EXIF like Phase One
- Auto EFCS is on Nikon and Fuji
