According to the email I received:

"Topaz Photo AI 2 offers new Adjust Lighting and Balance Color filters, along with significantly improved RAW processing and noise reduction, a substantial upgrade to standard sharpening AI model, Photoshop integration for upscaling, and many other overall improvements and fixes."

I rarely use it so haven't tried this version yet so can't comment on quality.

I just DL'd it today. It seems there are some useful improvements, but I need to buy the upgrade and spend some time. DXO is poor with TIFs and I can already see that the Photo AI is pretty good. I'm not sure how to best use it with RAW files yet. It's not a full-fledged program like DXO PL.

First impressions so far continued improvement when auto-analyzing an image and not completely destroying it. They provide 4 AI models for removing noise with a slider for strength on top of that. The adjust lighting seems more like exposure setting affecting the entire image. Most random images I thought it did a pretty good job cleaning up solid colored areas well, edges, and fine detail. Definitely struggled with a basketball players face where the the face was denoised but not the neck, consistently failed here.

imo, pureraw and LR denoise are the one's still to beat. LR denoise for the majority of images I think is "good enough", it handles fine detail really well and doesn't destroy images using 30-40 range.

Are we now at the point where Photo replaces Denoise/Sharpen/Giga or are the individual programs "better" than the combined one?

The individuals were better at one point, but the noise reduction in AI 2.0 appears to be better, at least with fewer artifcats.
If you have the old ones the upgrade to AI is $80 until Sept. 22. You can download the demo, but it does not save the files.

I got some sort of renewal deal where they tossed Photo in for free. If I can delete more (unnecessary) stuff off my HDD, I'd love to, provided I'm not missing out on anything. Sharpen has been pretty useful in the past. Giga and Denoise are more like alternatives if I can't get what I want out of ACR/PS.

What version of ACR/PS do you have? I got that Topaz deal last year: I had Topaz DeNoise AI and Sharpen AI. I purchased Gigapixel and Topaz threw in Photo AI for free and DeNoise and Sharpen AI got another year of support. All the apps will lose support on Oct 8.

I stopped using my 3rd party in April. I actually removed them from my system except for Topaz Sharpen AI. I downloaded Photo AI V2 the other day but that only lasted for a day. I won’t be renewing support. Sharpen AI only got one update in the last year but it is a mature product and opens as a TIFF so I’ll get many years out of it.

Tagging this thread for info since I am interested in exploring an alternate to DxO PL. I have Topaz Adjust AI for modifying the photos post-DxO processing, but haven't been using Topaz at all since DxO is plenty good for my use cases. Downloading the Topaz Photo AI to give it a whirl.

Strange, I "only" get the $40 discount everybody gets. I have a license of Topaz AI, Gigapixel, Denoise and Sharpening until the end of November.

I originally bought the 3-pack of Gigapixel AI, DeNoise AI and Sharpen AI in late 2021 IIRC. Later at no cost they gave me Photo AI, which may not have existed in 2021. All my upgrades expired early this year. I just clicked on the email link, logged in and it gave me the $80 price for Photo AI only. HTH.

I'm not sure if they care how many times the software is activated on the same system, so I'm reinitializing before installing/activating.

Perhaps I should wait until everything expires.

Photo AI is not an alternative to DXO Photolab; PL does so much more and I still like its noise reduction. I do use Sharpen AI/Photo AI for sharpening post DXO on occasion and it does a good of that but that’s it for Topaz products.

They are different and only partly complementary. DXO PL is designed for RAW files and does poorly with anything else in NR. Topaz works with RAW and other files types like TIF, but doesn’t do enough to be a RAW file processor like DXO PL or other full-featured programs.

It will be interesting to see how Photo AI develops in the future, but for now at least it replaces the older Topaz products fine. Integration of features is good, especially the scaling being part of the software so you can see the final results.

DXO PL profiles are just too far off for me and the lens corrections they have (many are missing) are not as good as DPP with DLO.

I'm up to date. I've been pretty happy with ACR Denoise - I also have DXO Pureraw which sometimes has better results - it depends on the camera and the scene. Pureraw's interface is tough to beat - roundtrip with a DNG is a lot better than Topaz's TIFF. I wasn't planning on renewing with Topaz until they gave me a no-brainer to stick around. I guess we'll see what they do this year.
