What setup will get me a macro photography better than an iPhone? Can you recommend me a canon setup?

The possibilities are endless. Take a look at the "Post Your Setup" string.

Any camera body which produces, generally, images of an acceptable quality will suffice. Some flash lighting is useful.

Depending on what level of magnification you want, a basic macro lens should be adequate, around 90-105 mm being the focal length you will most use. Such lenses are also excellent general purpose lenses.

Non-macro lenses can be used for macro by placing and extension tube between the camera and the lens. This can lose automatic functions of the lens if not part of the camera/lens system.

I don't use Canon hardware so cannot give specific advice.

Any modern digital camera with a Macro lens and a sturdy tripod will do.

By all means use a tripod but you won't get near most insects with one and you can easily damage habitat by moving it around. I haven't used a tripod in about a decade and shoot macro most days in suitable conditions.

I liked Canon SL2. Of course the 90D might be great, and there are numerous other aps and ff bodies, too.

I like 180 Tamron. Longer FL is better for things that fly off but probably harder, Canon has older 100mm macro less expensive, EF IS has IS, more expensive though. Many 3rd party available, older ones (pre 2005-07 or so?) might not stop down, Tokina makes one available fairly inexpensively
