Out for a walk on the beach the other day, I spotted this shell partially buried in the sand. I got down as low as I could and stopped the lens down to try for a sunstar, which turned out pretty well even though I could barely see the image on the LCD screen.

Really nice. Wondering if a polarizer would have further added to the look.

I don't think a polarizer would do anything at this angle, aside from possibly creating some dark blobs in the sky, and some extra flare.

Did you try it? What might it have done for the bright reflections on the beach? Polarizer value isn't limited to the sky. Perhaps a composite with and without the polarizer to deal with the anticipated flare and sky effects?

No, I didn't "try it"... as an experienced photographer, I'm already familiar with the problems caused by using a polarizer with an ultrawide lens and a clear blue sky...

good composition; I like it. I could see myself trying to put the shell more to the right but this works too.
