Always wanted to go to Darwin, Ca., about halfway from Lone Pine to Death Valley and even after the waitress at the Mexican restaurant in Lone Pine told us not to bother, we did, and it turns out that it was worth it. Reminded us a lot of Salton Sea and Slab City but way way more remote with lots of cars rusting away and no cell service. So here we have two from Darwin - the first one an old Chevy tanker truck and the second a rare (nowadays) four door 845cc Renault Dauphine sedan with the starter hanging out on the rear deck. And then finally whatever was left of a trailer in Keeler which is just across the Owens Lake from Lone Pine.

Never made that trip. "Remote" and then some. These images are what I think of when I read of this area.

Craig - I'm not sure if I was surprised or not surprised by what we found there or maybe that there was anything at all. The weirdest part is that there is at least one Air BnB available there with satellite internet. We also went to Tonapah on this trip and whatever used to be cool and interesting there has been completely replaced by ugly modern gas stations, well, and sandwich b board advertising signs (probably all he can afford now) from our old friend from Austin, Alex Jones.
