Even though I've centered on covering sports for years and my happy place, I've negated contributing to this forum over the years I can't recall my last posting. Anyways - been spending a lot of time over at the Wildlife and Nature forum to increase my skills chasing birds when not dodging smelly teenagers on Friday nights.
Anyways - my goal, starting now, is to get back to participating here in the Sports forum, especially since we're on the cusp of a new FNL season.
Tech notes - first FNL game with the Z9. Ended up shooting mostly dynamic AF like on my D5 since that's what's most familiar. Subject detection and tracking has possibilities, just need to keep working that skill and technique. I think it has a place in the tool box....just not sure where to put it and when to bring it out. But - the 9 and 25 dynamic AF did not disappoint.
As most have commented...the Z9 is not a high-ISO beast...so at 6400 I was a little surprised my shots looked like my D700 at 12800....but they clean up nicely and still working my post processing when dealing with ISO....all part of the journey. Using skills I've learned here within this forum to minimize and deal with.
Enough of that - looking forward to next week where I may bring the D5 along to further compare and contrast.
Thanks for looking!
