Extension Grip For R6?

Are there any after-market extension grips for the R6? I'm looking for something like the EG-E1 that's made for the RP. I don't want to use an L bracket or an extended battery grip. Anyone had any luck finding one for their R6?

On a side note, why are there so many cool accessories for every camera except the R6?

Do you mean battery grip?

The same battery grip that fits the R5 also fits the R6. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1574449-REG/canon_bg_r10_battery_grip.html

No, not a battery grip; an extension grip like the one available for the RP.

It's unlikely at this time given that the R6 is obsolete and the R5 is close to being replaced.
Smallrig makes 1cm extension grips/A-S plates for S*ny cameras and I find them useful.

The R6ii is the same size as the R6. I honestly don't understand why there were grip options made by Canon for the older, less expensive RP but nothing for the R6?

I had a Sony A7c some time ago, and I was able to find an aftermarket extension grip for it. There are even aftermarket extension grips still available for the R body as well!

My issue with a battery grip is that it looks and feels unnaturally bulky. Plus, my personal experience with battery grips is that something usually goes wrong with them rendering them inoperable.

I think what I'm looking for is a bottom plate extension; something to add an extra 1/4 or 1/2 inch to the bottom plate of the R6. The grip itself of the camera is not an issue for me, I just need an extended bottom plate to rest my pinky finger while gripping the camera (I have large hands).

I just upgraded to the R6ii and picked up this "L" bracket ....keep reading..... with a removable L part that I just never put on.

My motivation was to get a hand strap on right and a camera strap on left (I'm crazy but have ben using this setup forever). There is a bottom screw under the L part that can be removed so I can get the peak thingi thru for the strap and a strap slot on the right for the hand strap.

It's not 100% perfect but damn close and also added 1/4 or so to the bottom of the camera all the way around the bottom (has a trick movable piece for getting the battery in/out). The two points where the L bracket should attach are a bit sharp and have a small gap as the camera edge rolls but plan to take a file to that to just remove the bite. You can see daylight on the right front but it's not moved a mm so far.

Good find. That's like the Smallrig extender I have for the a7rV. There is a swing out section for accessing the battery. The quality of the Smallrigs is hit and miss. Some are flatter than others.

That extra 1cm does help the pinkie finger get a grip.

I've seen several of these on the market the past couple years. This comes in two pieces so you can leave the L off if you merely want a base plate/grip extension:

Yeah I saw that one but it didn't have the slot on the battery side that I wanted for the hand strap. It took me a while to find one that had my specific bits to get things on both sides... and had considered that one with some quality time with a Dremel

Thank you Robstein!! I just placed an order for one!

If I had any kind of talent whatsoever I would make one with a 3D printer. Unfortunately I have no knowledge whatsoever on how to do this, plus I don't own a 3D printer.

Do these L brackets in any way make Manfrotto tripod plates such as the one for 410 head less stable?

If the plates fit properly on the bottom, then there should be no issues in the landscape orientation on any head.
However, some L brackets with the cutouts for the reticulated LCDs are more stable than others when clamped on the side for portrait orientation. I've reverted to a generic KES L without cutout for the R5.

For these L-brackets or base plate/grip to be useful on the old Manfrotto 410, you need to convert it to Swiss-arca. I don't own that head but I converted several of my old Manfrotto heads to Swiss-arca, either by replacing the original clamp, or, in one case, mounting a clamp on the existing platform. Worked great and was more solid in the clamp (zero play) than Manfrotto's QR system. Hejnar Photo makes some great adapters/converters for common Manfrotto heads (I seem to recall one for the 410).

It would be perfect if it was half as tall!

CHeck out the I plate from peak design as well. Might be close to what you are looking for. It fits across the bottom of the camera only, no side bracket like an L plate.

I checked their website but couldn't find it. Would you happen to know the model number?

Sorry, I guess they call it the Micro Clutch. There is an I style and an L style, so I thought it was called I-plate.

https://www.peakdesign.com/products/microclutch

You could also contact the maker of that 3d printed file and ask if he would be able to modify it to be thinner. Depending on how it was drawn that may not be too hard.

Probably because most R6 owners don't want or need them. Last thing I would want is an extension grip for my R6 II.
