Another great location during Mark Metternich's Southwest White Pocket Workshop. This image taken near Gooseneck Park and Mexican Hat. However, if you didn't know the access point, you will never find it! Sunrise started with a glow but didn't quite develop into much of anything. I was literally starting to pack up when it happened . . . the sky started lighting up. I quickly set up again to capture these images. I think we gave Mark the name, "Light Whisperer" . . .

Stunning!!!

I've been to the goosenecks and Mexican Hat , felt like a king knowing places not much visited

I'd love to know the way to this bend ....(for next time, perhaps this December)

Great shots and story. I try to resist the urge to pack up or move on after I think the sunset/rise is over - been happily surprised with a show like that more than a few times.

I've been to Goosenecks SP twice and each time wished I had a UWA with me. It takes (as in your case) a 10mm or 12mm to capture the breadth of the area. Beautiful images!

Wondering though, did you camp in the area or stay in Mexican Hat or Bluff?

We were in the vicinity of the state park but had the necessary permits for the area where we shot these images. We camped right where we photographed!
