Dave, I would guess that Bald Eagles outnumber Ospreys 100 to 1 on Vancouver Island. Most Ospreys in BC are in the interior:

I have seen (no camera in hand) a Bald Eagle attack from above an Oprey carrying a fish. To defend itself, the Osprey had to drop the fish and roll over to present its talons as a defence against the eagle's talons. That Bald Eagle was so adept at this maneuver, that it caught the fish before it landed in the ocean.
