Black Skimmers

This set is from my last visit to Nickerson Beach, Long Island, NY. The image showing grass was taken at there nesting area and the others taken kneeling behind my tripod on the damp sand near waters edge.

Comments and suggestions welcome,

Looks like a very successful day on the shoreline! #4's my pic....but #9 catching some golden hour on its underside is a very close second!

Holy smoke, Morris these are great! Do you like live outdoors and have your camera 'superglued' to your hand? These are very skillful images, all the way around.

All great!

I don't know if I made a mistake but I just sold my 300 2.8 vrii(often paired with the 2xtc)
and going to buy a 500 PF. The 300 was manageable weight wise but when
I used the 2x tc, it really threw the balance off and made it a lot heavier and awkward. 300mm
is a bit on the the short side for wildlife and especially birding as most of you know. I like what I see
from the 500 pf though. I'm thinking the light weight of it also will get me out shooting more and have me
taking more opportunities.

The 500PF is a delight as it's hand holdable and super sharp though the 300 2.8 a bit more. Both focus very fast and the reach of the 500 will help for birds

Excellent set. I went back and looked at #3 for a couple of minutes. So that's why they are called skimmers!
