How do you guys manage photos when you're traveling? Do you import images when you go to the hotel? Do you import periodically throughout the day? Do you use mobile apps?

I do this on travel, but am a heavy RAW file creator (150-300 GB/day) for landscape/wildlfie. I avoid cities and "travel photography" like the plague.

I leave most of my photo stuff and my laptop at my local "base camp" and only take what I think I will need for the day's shoot. At the end of the day I upload my files to the computer and take a quick look at the images to determine if I need to revisit some of the sites. I also have a 4Tb portable SSD for backup.

I'm on the Adobe subscription plan and only use LrC and PS on a desktop computer. At home I store my files on a powered external drive. I only have one catalogue.

I travel with a laptop and a portable external drive. I create a new catalogue which is named based on the trip. After each shoot I import my files. I edit as I have time which is probably about once a day.

When I get home from the trip I copy my catalogue to the external drive, plug it into the desktop and use the Import From Another Catalogue command. It merges the travel catalogue into the desktop catalogue and moves the files. All edits are retained.

I do not use mobile devices and I lose access to all my files when travel. It makes me get out there and shoot. Last time I did not have access to all my old files for two months.

Same as Zenon both while travelling and when I get home. I travel with 3 drives and back up to the extras (they are all 4TB now). Also travel with loads of cards and do not format any.

I keep things simple when traveling. I have enough cards so I don’t need to reuse them. I backup my images at the end of the day to a stand alone drive. I might transfer a few images to my phone and use LR to edit so I could send them out to family and friends. When I get home I transfer all the images to my computer and import to my LR catalog. I don’t do any processing when traveling…plenty of time for that at home.

This.
I try to have enough cards, even 1902GB top grade CFE Type B, but now the Type A cards are insanely priced. That amount in CFe Type A is $3500, basically the cost of a good camera!

Carry MacBook Pro. Decant (and process) photos in cafe /bar / pub en route, or train journey home, copied onto external SSD for backup. Upload to Amazon Photos and processed photos to Flickr for further backup. Backup onto NAS when return home.

Only SD cards. Nothing else. Surely no editing while travelling.
Only at home I'll see images on a larger screen.
In future I might get one of these external SSD (maybe a Samsung T7 variant). Not sure yet.

Yes I really hate viewing on my 13” laptop compared to the 27” screen at home.

Ditto, just lots of cards. Touch wood, I've never had a card go bad on me, I hope I've haven't just jinxed myself.

I only use 16/32GB cards, so I don't have all my eggs in the same basket.

I have two cards. One for my R7 and one card for my R6II.

Travel with many cards but generally only use one. Delete only trial exposures on the trip. When home download all onto my desktop and do a cull aiming to delete around half or more images. Then back up these to external hard drives. Then do a much deeper cull only keeping the keepers on the computer. On a recent trip I took around 1000 images, that will reduce down to 50 keepers. Then when these become 'stale' I download them onto two 'Keepers' hard drives and delete them from the desktop.
In 15 years only had one card failure and that was physical damage, managed to retrieve all images on it.
