My experience with manual focus lens on fuji focusing assistance is not very positive.
With big aperture like f2 or even f2.8, it's hard to nail a perfect focus.
With smaller aperture like f5.6 or f8, the peaking is too sensitive. Most of the time, almost everything in the picture is highlighted as "focused" because the focal plane is too thick. I just basically give up on manual focus on fuji x

Peaking is most effective with fast lenses when shooting wide open. If you stop the lens down to f/8, peaking won't be as useful, and you might not get accurate results. To manually focus with a lens stopped down this much, focus at the widest aperture and then adjust the aperture ring to your desired setting for the best results, unless the lens has significant focus shift.

And to work around the shift issue, open the lens to say, f/2.8, focus, then stop down. You'll have less shift from f/2.8 to f/8 than from f/1.2 to f/8.
