Anyone got one? I want a Lightroom screamer. I'm running a 2019 iMac right now with an intel chip and it's painfully slow. 1.5 sec avg lag time between me hitting next, and the next photo that shows up when editing. Can't live this way anymore. Need something that rips. Who's got one?

Oh my — I have the M1 Max MacBookPro and it's a game changer. With both Smart and 1:1 previews, the develop module has no lag, even when running the XDR 6k monitor.

When I make a short list of life's challenges, my computer is not one of them. Buckle your seatbelt.

Awesome. I need this. This will save me hours and hours sitting here waiting for lag to clear and photos to render is realllllllly bad for my ADHD.

Thinking about switching from PC to Mac. Maybe a Macbook Pro...Getting an M chip + a good screen at a much cheaper price than Mac Studio + XDR or so.

I would get the Apple 27" monitor or one of the rumoured PC monitors with 200+ ppi. Can't remember who was supposed to have them out this Summer. Samsung? Dell? LG?

The XDR's very nice but worth at that price is a stretch.

You don't need the fastest one...I have the original Mac Studio and its blazing fast. The M1 chip is really a game changer.

Hi to all! I have the Macbook Pro14" Maxed out with M2Max, 96gb RAM and so on and a Mac Studio M1 Max with 32gb RAM. I can say that there are way too much noticeable performance differences in Lightroom Classic (importing, exporting, brushing, etc.).

But the M1Max base is anyway a very capable machine for Photographers. The problem, as ever, is the software.

$5,000 out the door for a box that is going to have other devices like a DVD burner attached by cable is not a good value. A refurbished Mac Pro can tower computer be bought from Apple for less than that amount.

Apple is great for laptops and for $9,000 workstations but the iMac and Studio computers do not provide the functional options, like internal RAID, that I get with a Windows computer.
