I'm trying to understand how file management works with Lightroom CC. I'm considering adopting an Android/iOS-based workflow for traveling.

When I import photos from a memory card in Lightroom CC, what happens to the files? I'm assuming any files that I import have to be uploaded to the cloud?

What becomes of the original files from the memory card? Are they just left on the card?

Your are talking about Lightroom or Lr which is new the cloudy version. Yes Lr automatically sends files to the cloud. It does not delete files off your card. Just to be sure and test it you can copy files to a folder on the desktop and import from there.
