+1 that the role of the second shooter is to produce the more PJ (main shooter can only be in one place at a time) or environmental shots, than the "classic" or "by the book" shots of main shooter. As a main shooter (long ago, i.e. '80s), I had my shot list, and of course, the kiss was on that list. Outside of that list, the "freedom to roam" was a secondary function.
With that understanding of the OP's mission (what it was vs. what it was NOT), it isn't the role of the second shooter to replicate the shots of the main shooter, rather to augment. If folks look at this shot as though the OP was the main shooter, they may think "half empty". Taking the shot into consideration as the role of second shooter, folks should be thinking "3/4 or full" (imo).
Bearing in mind, that the second shooter has clear instructions to NOT be in the way of the main shooter ... the second shooter MUST choose alternate lines from which to shoot. The second shooter, therefore should NOT PRODUCE the same idyllic shot that is the mission of the main shooter. What we don't know is what options were available. I'm of the perspective that if there had been a different line available, the OP would have done so.
That said ... I would love to see the OP in monochrome conversion (and maybe a portrait orientation crop for the vertically implied lines), as this is a very nice capture of the moment in time, and with the environmental context the groomsman provides. Harness what the groomsman offers, rather than dismiss it, or fight it. If the (foreground) mass of the groomsman has a bit of pull, there are editing options to help contend with that.
Nicely seen, timed and captured. 1st shooter is in your future.
