Yeah, I think that design is a little long in the tooth and designed for film. For non-m bodies I believe there is significant color shift due to the sensor glass. I guess my wish list would be a 35mm 2.8 Skopar III with the same design as the 28.

Since they keep the 35/2.5 VM in their lineup (it's one of their bestselling lenses at least in Japan as it only costs around 33K yen as new here and might be popular with film camera shooters as well), I think it's less likely that they would bring out a new 35/2.8 alongside it (it would most likely cost twice as much) for now...

I agree that 35/2.5 is less good on non-M bodies though. I had the LTM version in the past and it didn't play very well on Sony sensors.

The Voigt 35/2.5 Color-Skopar is often overlooked, but it shouldn't be. While I personally lean towards the CV 35mm f/2 Ultron, I've found that the Color-Skopar performs just as well in terms of sharpness at similar apertures. It's an excellent option for those who value compactness, being even smaller than the Ultron.

It was not even good on m43 with its thick sensor glass...

I enjoyed the old LTM version (I had the LTM P (Pancake) version) on my NEX-6 back in 2013 but then I got A7R and there was quite a lot of field curvature / IQ degradation towards the edges with the lens on that camera. Eventually I traded away that lens. Would like the lens quite a bit otherwise but I think it really needs a film camera or thin sensor stack (on Full Frame).

I tried this lens, and the copy I received was decentered so badly I actually laughed out loud when reviewing the images on the LCD. Maybe I should give it a second look. It is tiny!

Yes, give it another try. The copy I had was well centered. Rendering is more even compared to the Ultron.

Sadly, I encounter that problem a lot with the older Voigtländer lenses and therefore rather try to stay away from them.

Gladly, I have never encounted that problem with older Voigtländer lenses, neither has my brother. We both have the 35/2.5 in LTM but diferent versions. Just as a balance to the previuos statement
