yup, they're everywhere. good to see a strong healthy population though. i went to a beach this morning and it was hot, even at 8am. and by 9, the sun is way too harsh out in the open. anyways, here you go.

I really like what is crisp in your focal plane on all of these, with great soft background bokeh, making the subjects pop.

Curious if you zoomed with your feet or whether this / these juvies didn't know to be scared of you. (I've had some of those situations.)

Nice set - like the various settings you were able to capture with it/them. #1 stands out for me due to the uniqueness of the feathers, possibly blowing in the wind.

you bet, i took some "safety" shots, took a few steps, repeated until i couldn't fit the birds in my lens. as close as i was, other herons landed just as close to me as the ones i was shooting, so i knew i wasn't upsetting them.
