Lens Filter Static Issue

p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Lens Filter Static Issue

I have my bulb blower, lens brush, Zeiss lens wipes, and micro-fiber cloth available when I clean my lens filters. I use Hoya HD3 UV filters on my lenses and after cleaning, sometimes I see dust specks or fibers that clings to the glass. The blower will move the specks but not always remove them. It seems the glass has some static cling that just won't let go of any dust specks/fibers. Any suggestions to dissipate static cling? (I used to have an anti-static "gun" that I used on vinyl records when I hjad a turntable.)

Microfiber cloths can be frustrating. I use a thin leather chamois. It doesn't leave any microfibers on the surface of my filters.

Condensation from my breath and a clean T-shirt has worked for me for over 50 years.

It’s the problem with Hoya HD Series, they are called dust magnet filters! Very frustrating to remove dust, you can only switch to other brands to remedy that problem.

as nhanzero said, the static is a problem/characteristic of this filter. I got one and regret getting it.

As long as you have removed all the fingerprints and other major spots, don't worry about tiny dust particles. You will never see them in your photos.

I have one microfiber that also does that and it drives me nuts. When possible I use a different one that has more of a silky texture that works much better.
