I photographed this male as it blasted off from it's house which I've left out as I don't find it attractive. It's great having a camera and lens that are fast enough to track this speedy bird and it did well even with my 1.7x TC. All images are cropped from about 1/4 frame and only needed the usual sharpening. This will be the first of 3 sets of speedy and attractive birds I post over the next few days.

Impressive sequence of sharp images, several are similar but interesting on the position of the head as if its looking up to you

I was at least 50 feet from it yet the only thing out there so it might have been looking at me.

Morris, your wonderful photos remind me that even though I’ve seen many Purple Martin houses, I’ve never seen the bird.

Lovely sequence Morris! You've definitely been rocking that Nikkor 500mm PF and glad to see it integrate nicely with your Fuji! I think my 1.4x stays on my copy the most, but have used the 1.7x with success as with the 2.0x with 'okay' success.

Really like #2, enough sharp eye/glimpse with some minor wing blur.

A friend donated purple martin houses to a Marine Nature Study Area in Oceanside NY and they have made home in nice numbers.

Most people that own the Nikkor 500mm PF seem to enjoy them as we do. I expect Nikon will eventually come out with a Z version. Great pick from the sequence.
