DNP Printer and "Available Sizes"

p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · DNP Printer and "Available Sizes"

I have 3 DNP printers (RX1HS, DS620A, and a DS820A) connected to a Windows PC.

The DS60A, which accepts 5" wide, and 6" wide media, is currently loaded with 5x7" media.

The DS820A is loaded with 8x12 media.

Neither printer shows the correct paper available. If I go to "Printer Properties" under paper available, the DS620A shows 6x4 as the only size available, and the DS820 shows 8x10 as the only available size.

If I send a photo the DS620A that is a 5x7, it will print as expected. If I send a photo to it that's not a 5x7, or if I click the "Print test page" it puts the printer into an error state (media mismatch). I have to power cycle the printer to clear it. I'm assuming the "Test page" that's being sent is a 4x6.

If I put 4x6 media in the DS620A, it works as expected, and I can print test pages.

The crux of the problem seems to be that Windows thinks they have a different media in them than they actually do. As I understand it, the DNP media has a small chip in the media ink roll that tells the DNP printer (which can then tell the computer) what size of media it has loaded.

I've verified the proper drivers from DNP are installed. I tested with the printers connected to a different computer, and I get the same results.

Anybody have experience with these?
