The ZF is already an operational failure now without this added level of insanity.

I use my ZF both with modern AF lenses without aperture rings, and with modern and vintage manual focus lenses with aperture rings. It works magically well both ways, so I'd suggest it's actually an operational masterpiece. So many people seem to want a camera that conforms to a very specific use case and their equally specific preferences - it seems to me that adaptability of both machine and user is more useful.

Oddly, the Nikon FTZ adapter doesn't allow you to control aperture rings on chipped F lenses. Still scratching my head as to why they didn't release a revised adapter when they released the Zf.

Thanks for the suggestion, I found it greatly improved my shooting workflow.

Having used the camera for some time, I’m having somewhat better luck with the eye sensor now

ilkka_nissila wrote:
Yeah, this is a minor annoyance of the Zf. When I switch from viewfinder use to the tilted LCD, the eye sensor remains active and the LCD can go dark because of the camera strap on the left, or my fingers in the wrong place.

I swapped playback and DISP button roles so the playback button is no longer near the eye sensor. I prefer having it near the lower right corner like it is in the Z8.

Interestingly if you add the small grip, the size of ZF is very close to Z8.

I swear my Zf weighs more or less what my M240 body does. If you go for some of the new manual lenses and take advantage of the focus aids available you're not stuck with the 28/40mm SE's?

Yet I find the Zf to be very comparable to my Z7ii in terms of size, form factor is a little different of course.

Don't know if this has been discussed in the 55 previous pages. Never owned a Nikon. This is my first Nikon. But I have owned Sony, Fuji and Canon. From all these cameras non of them do in between ISOs the way the Nikon ZF does it. It's cool to see the camera uses ISO 720, ISO 2800, ISO 2200 and others ISOs in between. Other cameras use 1/3 ISO increments at best but this camera seems to use ISO in between ISOs. Do all Nikon cameras do this or just the ZF and newer Nikon cameras?

All the Nikons that I've used show increments finer than 1/3 in Auto ISO.

This same realization led me to sell the Zfc after only a few months. I prefer the Z6/7 ergonomics for essentially the same size. Don’t get me started on memory and battery formats and screen articulation.

I tried to respond to this but it disappeared somehow. It's the same in other Nikons that support Auto ISO: the steps are finer than 1/3 stops.

Its funny how our preferences differ. When I got my Zfc a praticaly stopped using the Z6. And if they were at the same price I'd never swap my Zf for a Z8.

Just wondering, if there is anyway to set up the ZF, so that I can use one button (for example, AF on) with AF-C and 3D tracking, while another button (shutter, for example) with AF-S?

Was using Canon, really liked this way to set up

Nikon Zf + Voigtlander 35mm f2.0 APO-Lanthar

Perfect combination!

Cheers,

Totaly agreing with that. I got the Apo-Lanthar 35mm two days ago, and though I only had time to take realy boring test-photos it's incredibly sharp with beautiful colors. Just wow.

I’d love to see zf with small rig etc, next to a z8 for size comparison

Have you seen this youtube video? I've seen Z8 with multi autofocus modes set to AF-on and the display button, so went searching for something similar with the ZF.
