I wanted to share my first experience using a ring light. I recently purchased a Godox ring light for close-up photography. I purchased the constant light version because nobody makees a flash that works in TTL mode for my Fuji xt5. Fuji claims otherwise but I tried the flash version and it would not fire on my XT5 although it worked fine on my old XT4.

The disappointing thing about the constant light ring flash is that it is not anywhere near as powerful (bright) as the flash version. I therefore cranked up the ISO to 5000 and used Topaz DeNoise to reduce the noise caused by the high ISO.The frogs in our outdoor shower are convenient subjects and have lovely eyes so my first attempt at real subjects was the showerr frog that keeps me company during my evening shower under the stars.. Result is OK but if Godox ever makes a Fuji compatable TTL ring flash, I will be first in line to buy it!!

Fuji 80mm macro lens.

It might be worth considering open flash in dark habitats. Having focused and framed in whatever artificial light, turn that off, open shutter, fire flash, close shutter. Low ISO is then possible.
