The Bee Balm is in full bloom and it is bringing in the visitors! Saw this moth (ID appreciated thanks Vic on White Lined Sphinx Moth) come in while relaxing so went and grabbed the gear to see if I could get a few frames in. Handheld and went for it

A few other items of interest some moving and some not were also included.

Nice work on these, Karl. The White-lined Sphinx moth is often called a Hummingbird moth because of their behavior. Looks like you are getting some rolling shutter on the very fast moving wings. I especially like the bee.

Hey Vic yes for sure on the rolling shutter in these. There were a few with wings detached

Yes Louie there were a few quite wild looking ones with the rolling shutter effect. Will make note for mechanical shutter next time

Hello Dave ....... well this isn't macro it's just MFD for the Sony 200-600 and its ability to nail the eye focus. Was in Bird Eye Focus mode but a few times saw a tiny little square catch the eye! Thanks kindly for your picks, take care buddy.

I've only gotten to photograph an actual hummingbird moth once, and it was so unexpectedly small I didnt even realize what it was at first. Darting around then hovering a second here and there it finally got my attention. From pictures over the years I assumed they were a bit larger. I take it this guy is similarly small?

I dont think I've even tried silent shutter on my RV in the field yet... but I kinda like the artsy effect of your wings, though like my old Cokin filters, I wouldn't want it all the time, heh. I suppose it would keep shutter count, sound, and some shake down on the camera, so it probably has plenty of good uses.

I've had the body set up like this since I got it with silent shutter. I had an instance or two in the field with a bit of wing weirdness but on close in birds blasting off. Lesson learned to be aware with certain situations. I agree they are a bit artsy. It was a fun quick shoot, just glad I got a few keepers! Thanks Eric
