I have of the 260gb cards. I used them exclusively the last 10 days (I had been using the Angelbird cards previously). I see no meaningful difference in performance. I have not done any of the tests Geoff did, but I have recorded a few hours of 4k 120p footage, and the overheating rate is not any different from Angelbird.

Thanks for the update , looking to be worth getting a couple then

Everyone still good with the Pergear ahhhh gear ?

Just ordered the 520 + reader today. Blue Angels coming to town. It'll be fun not having to worry about space.

Oh man - I've shot nothing but fast V90 cards up until now.

The Pergear 520 is blazing fast on an A1 at High+. Love it. Reader gets warm but it works a treat.

Follow up - performed so well that I figured I'd get another 520gb card.

Pergear direct has a 10% discount code and if you live in a high sales tax state - you'll like the final net price. No affiliation.

I would have ordered an Angelbird but do not fancy waiting for an unspecified amount of time for the bigger and less expensive card per GB.

Bumping the thread to see what everyone thinks of these cards after one month. I just read about them from a post on PhotographyLife and price seemed too good to be true.

Amazon reviews include one card that failed on day 2 but rest were raving as are people here.

Just bought the 520+Reader on Amazon which has the same 10% deal as direct it appears.

Hoping to get this Wednesday as promised for my first high school football shoot Friday.

Appreciate any added experience with these cards.

Pergear arrived from Amazon in just over 48 hours. Packaging is VERY nice with a light/soft wood box and had to cut through a circular silver sticker.

Just verified the card using SoftRAID which reads every sector and it passed.

So far so good...

Don't want to jinx myself but so far it's been great. I ordered a 2nd 520 card and haven't opened the box yet but Pergear #1 is going well so far.

Don't make the mistake I did and try to force the CF card in the front of the Pergear reader. I was about to jam it in when I looked and found the CF reader was on the side...

yikes! good looking out. The card has a pretty solid feel which I like. Seems robust.

UPDATE: Card and Reader are FINE! For some reason, LR Classic switched from Copy to Move with the CF Express card in. I have used LRc for years and it has always been set to copy. I just did one more test and the card and reader work as intended. Sorry!

Well, looks like this might have been too good to be true.

Just wrote Pergear support but will likely just return to Amazon. Here is what happened (what I wrote them):

I just purchased the Pergear 520 gb CFE-A card for my Sony a1. I formatted it and used it to take 340 photos of my dog running and jumping.
All images were downloaded with the Pergear card reader and the disk was safely ejected from a MacBook Pro.
When I put the card back in the Sony a1 and clicked Play, it said it could not display the images.
When I put the card back in the card reader, the Finder shows 511.96gb available and no images in the folder even though nothing was deleted.
This is very concerning

[edit] I did a second trial after formatting the CFE-A card in camera with over 700 images following the exact same procedures as above and all worked normally. I was able to see images on the a1 when I clicked play.

Weird behavior...

May still use the card for a football game tomorrow but will write to the SD card as backup.

And just did one more trial just to check speeds. Four bursts at 30 FPS and hit 5 seconds before slow down.

Connected CF card reader
Put in CF card
Imported
Ejected card
Put in a1
Pressed play and got 'unable to display'
Turned off a1 and put in card reader
Clicked import in Loc
No images to import (not because ignore duplicates was on)

Hmmmmm

So there is something odd happening after safely ejecting the card from an M1 MacBook Pro.

Going to run a SoftRAID initialize to check every sector next.

From Amazon product image, I do not see any VPG 400 certification for this card. Therefore I would rate this card inferior to Prograde / Delkin / etc. with VPG 400 certification.

Note that Angelbird does not show any VPG 400 certification as well.

Quick update:
SoftRAID certifying failed immediately but, after checking with their tech support, it is more likely on the software side than the card itself. Tried a beta they offered but same thing.

Got this response from PerGear support but not sure what I'm supposed to show them other than taking a photo of the back of the a1 saying 'unable to display':

Please provide the below information, and then we will give you a solution. Thanks for your patience with us.

Sorry to hear you’re having some issues, I’ve not got mine yet but it should be here end of September according to Amazon UK . I also use a M1 Macbook pro . Soon as it arrives im going to try both card and reader , any issues it’s going straight back . I’ve never used cfexpress cards before. I didn’t feel I needed them and never had any issues with the Lexar and prograde SD cards I currently use . I was going to buy another 256gb prograde as a backup but noticed the 520GB Pergear cfexpress A was almost same price. If it was reliable I’d buy another one , having a pair of 520GB in the camera would be very convenient

Only time I’ve seen the A1 display unsupported file is after culling images with photomechanic in the MacBook and putting the SD card back in the camera . I then format card

I shot 4,000 images tonight with the Pergear card and downloaded them by connecting the a1 to the MacBook Pro. Took the card out to cool (though wasn't as hot as from Pergear reader) and just re-inserted into the a1 and no issues at all.

Ordered the Sony CF card reader which is due to arrive tomorrow and will see if the Pergear reader is indeed the issue as I now suspect.

It's a $30 reader when bundled with $100+ for the Sony so wouldn't surprise me that there is some issue when ejecting that makes the card unreadable until formatted.

Like I said before, I have had no issues with lost images. It's only when I used the Pergear reader and ejected the card that an error appeared on inserting that card back into the a1.

@eyal - my 2nd card arrived but I haven't tested it yet. Better open the box, it would seem. That one I bought directly from Pergear. The first one with the reader is still functioning correctly was from Amazon.

Sorry you've had some issues.
