Great addition to the Nikon Z system!
Nikon took great care to at least copy all of the Sony wildlife options, so with a portable wildlife body option in the Z8 and this new Z180-600, there's now literally nothing that Sony has over Nikon. Rather, it's the other way round.
The times that Sony had Nikon scrambling to catch on are now over, and Sony will no longer have the luxury of system switchers moving over to them in droves. For mirrorless shooters this is a good thing, having all the options and choices available.
I assume that this 180-600 will perform indentically to the Sony 200-600G, although the VR will for sure be better as Sony trails here. It's not a lens I would buy, I prefer prime lenses, but I am glad it has been released, because now the Nikon lens designers have their hands free to make the Z600mm f5.6PF
I don't think much is to be expected from Sony (actually: nothing) with regards to a middle ground GM 600mm f5.6 prime, but Nikon could do it. Just take the fantastic 500PF, make it Z and add 100mm....
