If you're asking me, my short answer would be "very well". The 200-600 AF's just fine on my Z9 with no discernable shortcomings vs. the A1. IS is limited to the lens, of course, (i.e. no IBIS/synchro stabilization). The only major limitation I've found is that you cannot zoom quickly while maintaining focus -- the adapter appears to be too slow to relay the signals in real time. The adapter itself fits snugly which is good, but there's some rotational play that you have to be aware of. Obviously it would be best not to have to use an adapter at all, but until Nikon releases their version of this lens, the Sony is the best of all the alternatives IMO, and it's priced way below it's performance metrics IMO....Show more →
Good to know. I have a Nikon 200-500 I use on my Z9 and it works OK. AF is a bit slow when shooting swallows compared to my R5/R3 and the 100-400 USM II with adapter. I was thinking of getting that Fringer EF-NZ adapter that allows you to use EF glass on a Z body. From the reviews I have watched/read, it works great. I am afraid that the Nikon 200-600 will be a Z version of the 200-500 with similar focusing speed. But maybe since it will be a native Z lens, it will be a little snappier. Only time will tell.
