I spoke with Nikon yesterday and they were very matter of fact that they do not recommend the Delkin Black, which has been my favorite.

Were you talking to a rep or a low-level support person? I'm just curious as the individual may have been reading off a script or list. Regardless, I don't know why they would tell you that. The Blacks are arguably the best cards you can use in a Z8/Z9 as they run the coolest (more than 20C cooler than some others which matters for video), have an unlimited HE* buffer, and can maintain 15fps indefinitely even with lossless compressed RAW if for some reason someone still shoots that format. My response to them would be to tell me what's better than that so I can go buy that one instead haha.

The Delkin Power G4's in 650GB capacities and above also perform very similarly to the Blacks. I'm hoping B&H discounts them again by a ridiculous amount for Black Friday.

Is this a good card for Z8? Looks too good to be true. Amazon sells same card (slightly different manufacturer name) for 400. This costs only 140 for 256gb card

Amazon name = SDCFE-256G-GN4IN
B&H name = SDCFE-256G-ANCNN

Also how about cheap Prograde card like this one

Thank you

Just get a Delkin Black or Delkin Power G4 (650GB+). If price is an issue, they seem to go on sale quite regularly, and it's usually the 325GB Black or the 1TB or 2GB Power G4 model. I can understand wanting to save some money but it's a drop in the bucket compared to the rest of the system and good quality memory is a worthwhile investment at least in my opinion.

The cards you linked to will work fine, but they will not give you an unlimited RAW buffer if that is a concern for you. For continuous shooting and to a lesser extent video, what matters is the minimum sustained write speed (not the maximum write speed and not the "up to" speed that every manufacturer loves to advertise).

I was talking with a rep(support was of no help) and that was my first question. They recommended the ProGrade Cobalt. I do still have a Delkin 1 TB G4 card that works just fine. This was right after I got the camera. They also said that the 1st firmware(1.01) would take care of it. My camera was literally locking up using the Delkin Black and I would have to power off and take out the battery to get going again.

I am having no issues with the ProGrade or Delkin Power G4 1 TB card.

Not sure if they were guessing, but I switched cards and it's been fine ever since. I think many people are using the Blacks with no issues at all, but it was a nightmare for me. I blamed the camera and right when I called, they knew all about it and said, "No, it's the card" and we're working on it. If they did, they sure never mentioned it in the firmware.

Thank you for the reply
Honestly I don't care about infinite buffer. The max buffer I ever had was 150 images and I never hit that. I used to hi 40 images. So anything above 100 will do.

I know it's a drop in the bucket. But there's a reason I'm looking for cheaper one now.
