24-200 says it's $420 but when I actually add it to the cart, its $647.95. What am I doing wrong?

That is a no-brainer. Bought it already actually.

I have zero experience with Nikon refurb department. I bought a top of the line lens via Canon refurb one - it was a hot mess. The lens worked well but it looked like someone really abused it. I tried getting an RMA number, impossible to get through and wasted hours trying to get RMA, and then later getting it paid back. Never dealing with Canon again. Hopefully this Nikon buy proves to be a good experience.

Most everyone here who has bought during these sales in the last 6 months gets gear that looks like 9.5 condition if not mint. Anecdotally your odds are good.

Same! Slowly trying to lay seeds for an eventual 200-600 purchase or 100-400 in the future.. need more time, can't have it show up next week~!

A few reports of some flagship bodies at very deep discounts looking rather battle worn but as Roaming Scott says most have got 9.5 or better. Some bodies with a shutter count of one.
RMA’s are typically easy for items under $1k but above that it needs supervisor approval and can take a while - not at all like B&H!

Yup, the link I posted now goes “looks like this page is not here”

Same for the 24-120 link and the 100-400.

If you see a deal like these you have to grab it while it is up. Returns are easy for items under $1k and if you have instant buyers remorse - or didn’t get the treasurer’s approval- you may even have the weekend to cancel as they probably won’t ship before Tuesday.

Price on that 24-120 was phenomenal. I'm glad I got mine for $200 off new price back when those sales first started to pop up, but it's worth it at new price, a mega steal for this price, especially as short as Nikon's standard warranty is these days.

That link is no longer working but if you do a search on the site it still comes up at $699. I ordered one about 45 minutes ago and it went through fine, and I received a confirmation that it was preparing for shipment. I’m guessing that means Tuesday.

Just ordered one. Been wavering about this as I have the 24-200 but I think now is the time to try it.
They are now listed as on back order which is fine as I have that focal length covered.

PS The 100-400 is also now available for order again at $1999 but now lisred as backordered. In my cart but I haven’t pulled the trigger.

Refurb is at best erroneous as these are used cameras that were sent back to Nikon and they may have been simple returns or they may have had defective parts that needed to be replaced. With Nikon only providing a very short 90-day warranty they have little confidence in the durability of these cameras and lenses. To me it is wiser to buy a used camera (and know the real shutter count) or lens from someone on fredmiranda's Buy-Sell subforum.

Why is a used product with no warranty better than refurb (used) with a 90-day warranty?
