And like i said before, in order to have that much supply, Nikon would have had to have been producing the Z8 back in January or February. There is no way they are making 12k units per month like some have suggested.
Still that is doubtful so we shall see, bit people just waking in to stores today and buying without our ordering... No doubt means less demand
And no one knows if they are right or working which again is why i said that if you're regularly walking into a store in 2 months and can just buy a Z8, that will tell you all about the lack of demand...Show more →
I think you may be jumping to conclusions on demand. We just don't have access to the information to know the demand side.
On the supply side we do have some information. The supply of Z8 is very much higher than a normal release has. We do know that the Z8 release was delayed for Months due to a supply problem for a particular part. The Nikon factory in Thailand continued to build Z8 units during this time, and built up a very large inventory of almost done cameras. Now that this part started being delivered in volume Nikon is able to complete these units at a very fast pace. This continues for now, and for the next who knows how many delivery batches going forward. I was aware of this inventory build up more than 3 Months ago. So, it has been going on longer than that. I think it is entirely possible for Nikon Thailand to finish a large number of units a Month for a period of time under these circumstances.
What the actual demand is is unknown, what the inventory and production capacity are is known to larger than usual. Again, I think it unwise to use current availability to estimate demand.
