In our area it was a long winter with a lot of snow. Spring has been slow in coming but we've finally had a few nights that have stayed above freezing and the snow is melting fast. But nothing green in sight yet. This time of year the moose are under nutritional stress. They've been living for months now with nutritional deficit and it's calving time. All there is for them to eat this time are the buds on tree branches, small twigs, and out of desperation tree bark. This cow has been hanging around our neighborhood for several days. They find our back yard peaceful/safe enough to lay down and rest so we're hoping this one might choose it as a nursery. Anyhow following are a few shots of the poor gal trying to fill her belly from the leafless trees in our yard.
