Eric,
Nice set, all sharp, as for a TC vs crop is that is a personal preference of the end result you want to achieve,
Keep in mind you loose a stop or two with the TC. From your photos, whatever you decide, you'll be happy.

Thanks Chris! Good info.

Great set Eric. I have the exact same setup as you have here and what I can tell you is the 200-600mm lens takes a TC very well. With plenty of pixels to work with you should have any issues with cropping in post processing versus a TC.
Thanks Louie! That is very helpful, especially coming from someone who's work I've seen and know. My old setup FF 36mp with a 150-450mm on my K-1 required a LOT of cropping at one of my favorite birding places, the grass flats are just a bit far, and the 200-600mm & 61MP was a big draw for me to switch to Sony... and here I am getting greedy again looking at getting closer with the 1.4x, heh. I guess that's just human nature. I'll definitely be on the tripod more with the 1.4x I am assuming, but if it gets me closer... it's hard to argue with results.

Beautiful images. The Rosy's are my favorite bird and I've been to Ding Darling on Sanibel several times to photograph them, but never with a big enough lens. Next time I go I'll buy a 200-600 to mate with my a7rv and go nuts.
Good job.
Thanks Blueridger! I haven't been to Sanibel in years, you are giving me idea's...heh.
