Recently upgrade from a 2012(!) Mac mini to a M1mini and have been incredibly pleased with the performance. It's so efficient and quiet.
I like that you can choose whichever display(s) you want, making it a much more flexible and better suited option. I plan to keep this for as long as it lasts.

I'll probably keep the iMac going a bit longer before moving to an M-processor versions since most of my use of the laptop is for less processor-intensive stuff. But it is frustrating.

We did manage to score a very inexpensive M1 mini as our networked file server.

Lol. It was not intended. I should have checked it out first. In 2022 I took my old MacBook Air to Europe. It used to chug along fine but it never encountered my R5. A complete stall and I had no choice but to get a new one. It was nice to get a Retina screen.

I am still clunking along with an iMac 21” from 2011…but I’m also just running a 6D with CR2 files, so it’s doing what I need at the moment.
