Would wrapping a camera make it more prone to overheating when shooting video?

They look kinda cool, but too pricey. Plus I feel I’d air bubble one somewhere along the way.

I applied only two alphagvrd skins to 50GM and 35GM, but it seems you will need to work hard to create any noticeable air bubbles. Skin can be reapplied multiple times without issues but don't apply force so that they don't stretch.

OK, so you guys have tempted me to order for my workhorse lenses (24-70GM and 70-200GM) but now I cannot for the life of me decide which color/patter to get. Something dark (especially for the 70-200 to make it slightly less conspicuous) but I'm worried I'll end up hating anything too patterned. I already have an urban camo RolanPro lenscoat on my 200-600 that I like but a lenscoat would be too bulky for the smaller lenses IMO.

Show me your wraps! I'm thinking matrix black, shadow black or obsidian black (tho that's only available for the 24-70). I am curious if anyone has the Nocturnal Waves design. That's about as bold as I'll go... I prefer to blend into the background

You can always do a Google search to find current Alphagvrd discount codes that work.

I have tried a number of their designs and finally decided that I like the look and tactile feel of Shadow Black the most. In fact, I removed Matrix Black, Nordic Black and Black Mamba from three of my lenses and re-covered with Shadow Black, my favorite. In normal light, it looks more subdued than the photo I previously posted. A really cool, high-tech, look that I also like is the Graphite that I used on my GM 50mm f1.2.

I always disliked the "big white" color of Sony telephoto lenses, but did not go with black on my 70-200, 100-400 and 200-600 lenses (see my previous post/picture to see what I used) as I didn't like the white seams that show through, based on photo's I have seen of such installations. Coming from Nikon telephoto's, I sure miss those black lenses!

Definitely the heat dissipation would worsen. Testing is needed if it would be a deal breaker in your shooting conditions. But if you shoot in really hot conditions - could be a no go. You can peel it off if there is an issue anyway.

As an enthusiast travel shooter I never felt I needed these skins. Only issue I had with quality lenses was the loosen rubber ring on my EF 24-70 II which I had to change due to extensive carrying it in my hand during summer. Rubber ring is the only thing I dreamed of covering (changing to metal/plastic).
But If I was working my way through bushes with a big lens - I would be really considering these skins.

I want Obsidian Black on my A7C.
Do you think covering body will help to prevent scratches etc?
How thick is it?

that not thick. It will prevent scratch. My 600GM had been nick left and right and the skin protected it. It is also through quite a few heavy rain. No problem either. It is the same material as car wrap.

Does anybody have example of Obsidian Blue or Brushed black? I'm tempted to try them on A7RV

I have these skins installed on my A7IV and A1 and my GM lenses. Didn't go with Alphagvrd and went with some random Aliexpress outfit.

Overall, pretty impressed. Applying it isn't particularly hard, just time consuming in particular the bodies since there's a lot of stickers. Tearing the stickers is pretty easy when you lift the stickers coz some of the sections are really thin, but TBH it's not a big deal when it does.

They don't stretch easily at all and getting air bubbles is a non-issue since you can squeegee them down really easily. Much easier than screen protectors. Unless you have a massive stick of dirt on it, it's just gonna press down on it and cover it up.

I reckon in terms of appearance, the matte black ones are spot on - unless you look for the seams, it's dead on a perfect match for the original black paint. The white ones are a bit meh - I wish it came in the same matte textured finish, but it's a slightly glossier and smoother finish on it. Overall, I'll keep wrapping the nicer lenses in the vinyl - they do a great job when it comes to scuffs.

Ordered brushed black skin for A7rV and one of the lenses to try out. I figured it was a safe bet compared to other options.

.1 mm thick plastic wrap with no air bubbles makes zero difference. If you opt for any of the light colors - it actually helps tremendously outdoors. My A1 was overheating pretty quickly while filming under direct sunlight. It could be hot to touch even if turned off. Not anymore. All my outdoor photo stuff is how white. If I ever buy Nikon's big lenses - they will become white in no time.

BTW alphagvrd is a reseller of a Taiwanese company lifeguard-design.com. I prefer to order directly from Lifeguard - it's faster (everything is always in stock) and cheaper. FedEx delivery from TW takes 2-3 days. After a certain volume they started giving a 5% discount and now it's 10%.

I purchased a a7iii from a member here that came with a silicon skin. Much thicker than what I’m seeing as these wraps, but also removable. I’ve been trying it in the camera, and I imagine it protects against bumps and scratches just fine, but it is awkward to use, and downright frustrating at times, especially for things like removing and inserting the hot shoe cover. Unless you anticipate rough conditions, I’d pass on the silicone type
