I had D500, D850, D6, D810, as far as I remember, they all have monochrome in picture control.
My local dealer even made a few extra monochrome preset that I can install into picture control in my camera if I want.
Z7 ii, Z9, Z Fc also has this.
Monochrome conversion by third party is entirely different. They take out bayer filter for one thing.
This is similar to what Leica Monochrome, the new Pentax monochrome of Phase One Monochrome camera does and
is the only native monochrome cameras.
On Nikon body, you can shoot in any picture control profile and convert to various monochrome profiles in post processing
and you are not losing anything in comparison to using monochrome profile in picture control.
